Maximizing Value of Intangible Capital – My presentation from ICAP Ocean Tomo earlier today
March 25, 2010 by Mary Adams
We had a great time with our panel discussion at the ICAP Ocean Tomo track today on Emerging Intangibles Markets. Here are my slides:
After a panel discussion with fellow members of the Intangible Asset Finance Society, Nir Kossovsky and Andy Gibbs, we led the group through a case study of a research and licensing company that had a declining market value. The market viewed it as a troll with low value add.The group created an inventory, visualization, scorecard, strategy and communications plan for the company. Much better than just listening to us talk. The attendees internalized the basics of an intangibles management program.
250 people here all in the intangibles space. Tomorrow is the patent auction. I am really excited to be at this event and not just because my business and passion is intangibles….
Prior to founding my consulting business, I was a high risk lender. I sometimes worked in the asset-based lending market. This market is an ecosystem of lenders, valuation firms, liquidators, documentation and security filing standards. Listening to what the folks here are doing in the intangibles space is so familiar–they are basically building a new segment for the intangibles market. This is an important building block for building a broader market understanding of intangibles.
(By the way, there are so many folks that are sensitive to litigation here, I haven’t been tweeting about the proceedings. But I will share presentations that are made public…)

Great presentation – thanks for participating on the panel!
